Sun by Electric Djinn (Jacki-E remix)
Electric Djinn's original is an ambient tour de force with heartfelt vocals over slow percussion, handclaps, synth drones and ambient soundscapes The lyrics celebrate the fact that a past lover is returning and equates this to the Sun coming back into her life, hence the title.
Naturally, I remixed it as a driving techno track and I thought what if the lover has a dark side? That's what I tried to bring out in my remix.

Getting It Off The Ground by Jacki-E
Driven by powerful drums and vocal samples pitched both up and down, this track is dance floor filler with catchy hooks and quirky fills.
With a stop / start rhythm and a repeated piano sample, the music describes what it's like when it's difficult to get an artistic project off the ground.

Last year (2023) marked the 55th Anniversary of Motown Records so it seemed fitting to do this.
Originally done as an album track by The Temptations, they didn't want to be seen as a 'protest' group so it was given to Edwin Starr for a single release and Starr delivers a powerful vocal performance of the Vietnam War protest song.
54 years on from it's release and our world is reeling from warfare in Ukraine, Gaza, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and elsewhere.
Now the lyrics of the song resonate just as much today as they did in 1969.
That's why I've done this bootleg.

Candy's Room by Bruce Springsteen (Jacki-E Techno Bootleg)
It's 45 years since the original track was released on the album 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'.
This was Bruce's fourth album, released three years after his breakthrough LP "Born to Run'. The release of ;'Darkness...' was delayed by a legal dispute with his ex-manager over ownership of his tracks.
'Candy's Room' was described by 'The Quietus' Michael Hann as the album's "most musically violent moment"
Lyrically, it's a fantasy song in which the singer imagines being with the Candy of the title. Unfortunately for him, Candy is popular with many suitors who trade fancy garnishments for her affection.
Springsteen thought it fit the theme of the album, which he described as "people tryin' to hold on for the things they believe in, in the face of battering from the outside." (Quote from 'Springsteen' by Robert Hilburn.)
Driven by a furious and un-relenting rhythm and introduced by a driving ride pattern on the hats, I thought it was perfect for a techno remix.
